Dr. Usama is research associate in Dr. Koutsopoulos group. He is working on iSUPER project at Northeastern. Prior to the current role, he was a GRA in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan, and a Master's degree in Transportation Engineering from Southeast University in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

His research interests include Intelligent Transportation systems, traffic state estimation, data integration, railway engineering, and railroad maintenance. He has been working as a railroad engineer in Pakistan Railways.

At JTL, he would be involved in computer vision application for railroad inspection, and other areas besides working on simulation engine for the urban transit.
