Amelia Baum

Amelia is a first-year MST student at MIT. She graduated in 2019 from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, during which she worked on travel demand modeling projects at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. Prior to joining the Transit Lab, she worked for 3.5 years as a Software Engineer at Swiftly, building tools for service planners and operations personnel at transit agencies in the U.S., Australia, Spain and Sweden. Her primary professional interest is making transit a reasonable alternative in environments where private vehicles dominate. To this end, her current research interests are transit reliability, efficient labor and capital allocation, and system legibility and usability.
