Visiting Graduate Student
We invite applications from prospective visiting graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year. If you are interested in joining our lab, please submit the application form by the end of December 15, 2025 (EST). The application requires the materials listed below. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews and asked to provide two reference letters.
- CV
- Statement of purpose, detailing the student’s research interests, previous work, and future research plan if admitted to our lab as a visiting student (limited to one page, excluding references)
- Writing sample
- Explore the lab’s recent publications and select a list of three papers that captivate your interest and provide a concise paragraph (no more than 300 words) explaining the rationale behind your selection.
- Contact information for two references
- Optional: An English language exam (IELTS or TOEFL) certificate
2025 Summer Internship Program
MIT-UF-NU 2025 joint summer research camp is organized by Prof. Jinhua Zhao from the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT, Prof. Shenhao Wang from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Florida, and Prof. Haris Koutsopoulos from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University. The program targets to recruit students who have the ambition on conducting research in transportation and urban planning. The research camp will primarily take place remotely, and the length of the program is three months.

2025 SMART M3S Project Postdoctoral Associate

SMART M3S Project Research Assistant
The SMART research team (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology) is currently recruiting at least three research assistants. The research assistants will work on the “Mens, Manus and Machina—How AI Empowers People, Institutions and Cities in Singapore (M3S)” project, which is dedicated to exploring the potential of human-machine collaboration and addressing issues related to artificial intelligence and social adaptation, with the aim of promoting the betterment of society through artificial intelligence (website). Successful candidates will be involved in groundbreaking projects aimed at advancing state-of-the-art AI for the development of future smart cities.
