PhD Student

Zhaoxiang Li is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) at MIT. He received his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Peking University in 2025 and his Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Tongji University in 2022.

His research interests lie at the intersection of Emerging Mobility TechnologiesSustainable Transportation, Labor Market Impacts, and Transportation Equity. He leverages large-scale transit data to analyze travel behavior and mobility dynamics, and applies causal machine learning approaches to asses the economic, environmental, social, and employment impacts of connected, autonomous, shared, and electric (CASE) technologies. More broadly, his work focuses on strategies for sustainable transportation transitions and the advancement of social justice in accessibility, employment opportunities, and environmental outcomes.
