Riccardo is a second-year Ph.D. in Transportation student. He has formal training in aerospace engineering, holds a BSc in artificial intelligence and computer science from the University of Edinburgh, as well as a MSc in data science from the University of Amsterdam. Through his past experiences at the UNSW Hyperloop project, Swiss Federal Railways, and Continuum Industries, he has entered the realm of the interdisciplinary field of public transportation research. His past work focused on equitable public transit network reduction using reinforcement learning. At JTL, worked on monitoring, predicting, and mitigating in-station crowdedness with a special focus on the use of computer vision approaches for his Master of Science in Transportation (MST) from which he graduated in May 2025. Riccardo is now continuing his Ph.D. in the JTL-Transit Lab and Zardini Group on holistic urban mobility design.
