Hongyi Lin

Visiting PhD Student

Hongyi Lin is a visiting Ph.D. student at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT and a member of the JTL Lab, advised by Prof. Jinhua Zhao. He is concurrently a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University, under the supervision of Prof. Xiaobo Qu. His research focuses on urban traffic scenario generation, fusion and cooperative perception for autonomous vehicles, and the integration of AI into intelligent transportation systems. In particular, he is interested in using vision-language models to generate large-scale, realistic driving scenarios and integrate them into perception frameworks to address the long-tail challenge of rare events. He also works on developing city-scale perception foundations that support information fusion across multiple devices and tasks.
