Alok Prakash is the Scientific Director and Chief Technology Officer of the Mens, Manus & Machina (M3S) program at the Singapore–MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), MIT’s largest international research enterprise outside Cambridge.
At M3S, he leads a multidisciplinary team exploring how artificial intelligence, robotics, and human–machine collaboration are transforming aviation, workforce development, learning, and urban systems.
Previously, he held senior technical leadership roles at ST Engineering, where he led R&D for the company’s autonomous-vehicle division before moving to the CTO Office of its Urban Solutions business to drive cross-cutting innovation in transportation and smart-city systems.
Drawing on deep experience across academia and industry, Alok combines the rigor of research with the pragmatism of deployment—focusing on the broader impact of AI and robotics on work, institutions, and society.
